    Puzzle or Simulation

Concept Hunter - Crash Town 2

Trying to be a puzzle didn't work out for this game, but even with all of its flaws it's still a fun simulation game.

Concept Hunter is a weekly show focusing short games with cool concepts. Every Tuesday I find an interesting  game and pick it apart from a game design perspective.

Hey, I liked this one. Lot's of stuff to look at as you talked, and you didn't harp on anything! :D

You made some good points too. Though, I have to say, a lot of this stuff tends to be obvious in hindsight, but is easy to gloss over when you're looking at the same thing for hours and days as you make it. I've had people get so mad (en masse) about things that didn't even come up once during testing.

I have to agree that there's a game in there somewhere. Maybe the dev fell into the trap of thinking each level had to be harder than the last. That first level seemed legitimately puzzley, but then it gets kind of out of control. I've seen that a lot in flash stuff. I think it's one of those things you have to outgrow, haha...

When making something for a long time, you tend to fall into rhythm and accept even major flaws without noticing them. Getting a totally different perspective from someone as objective as possible can pretty much surface all those things.

In any case I'm getting better at being more concise, glad you're noticing, thank you!

BTW, you have a face icon over your actual face during the whole video!

You mean that little sub icon at the top right? It should be there for only 30 seconds...
